Let me be mine

I crumble as you wrap around me
suffocating the space that surrounds my hollow skin.
It’s paralysing.
Why is it that you look surprised?
This discomfort runs deep.
Women have felt this feeling long before me.
It’s the unspoken bond that unites us.
No, ownership cannot simple be returned.
No, nor can you sell me what is mine.
Let me understand why this feeling brews within.
Let me learn the curves of the map, the constellations that shine.
Just like you know yours. Like you own yours.
After that, I will be mine and only then can I be yours to hold.
